Two students of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Akintunde Olumide and Oladapo Olaoluwa are to spend the next three years in jail after being found guilty of involvement in cultism.
The three-year imprisonment verdict was slammed on them by Justice Monisola Abodunde of an Ado Ekiti High Court who held that the prosecution has proved a case of stealing, assault and membership of a secret cult group against the accused beyond every reasonable doubt.
Police prosecutor, Femi Falade, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 13, 2013 at a hotel in Iworoko -Ekiti.
He said that the accused were brought on a three -count-charge of stealing, assault and secret cult.
Falade said the offence was punishable under Section 355,4(1) of Criminal  Code Laws of Ekiti State 2012 and Secret Cults (Abolition and Prohibition).

KWASU Post-UTME/DE 2016: Eligibility, Screening Date And Registration Details

This is to inform the public that the 2016/2017 Post-UTME/DE Screening of the Kwara State University has been announced.

ELIGIBILITY
a. those whose choice of institution (First or Second) is Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete; and
b. those interested in admission into KWASU but have not made it their choice.

In addition to all the requirements stated above, all applicants must know that final admission into the University is based on meeting the University’s and the Academic Programme’s cut off points in both UTME and POST-UTME examinations when they are set and also on the availability of spaces within the NUC approved admission quota for KWASU.

All candidates must have five (5) O’ Level credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings. Candidates awaiting O’Level results can also apply for the Post-UTME Screening Test but will not be considered for admission until their results are available.

SCREENING DETAILS

The screening/test is scheduled to hold as follows:

Date: Monday 16th May – Thursday 19th May, 2016.
Venue: University Auditorium, Malete
Time: Examination time will be scheduled on candidates’ registration print-outs.
Candidates are advised to adhere strictly to the time scheduled for their Post-UTME Screening/Test. They are also required to come along to the screening/test venue with unused scratch card(s) for their O’level results, and print-outs of their Post-UTME registration forms.

REGISTRATION FEES: Applicants are required to pay the sum of Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) only (i.e. Two Thousand Naira (N2,000.00) as Post-UTME fee and One Thousand Naira (N1,000.00) as administrative charge).

ONLINE REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS
►From KWASU undergraduate portal home page (http://www.kwasu.edu.ng/portal), click "POST-UTME CANDIDATES" menu.
►Click "Registration Form" link
►Enter your details in the spaces provided and click "Continue" button to generate the payment breakdown. NOTE that if you have already attempted to make payment, this section will notify you of the status of such payment.
►Check the payment details generated and click "Make Payment" button. Do not click the button twice.
►On the payment platform displayed, enter your card details and click the "Pay" button.
►Once your payment is successful, you will be directed to your registration portal where you can complete other stages.
►After completing the registration stages, a screening date will be scheduled for you. It is important to print your Post-UTME Registration Form and Payment receipt. You are to bring these documents to the screening center along with other important documents. NOTE that if you have successfully paid, and wish to continue your registration stages later, you can use the "Login" link under "POST-UTME CANDIDATES" menu to access your registration portal.

Only 400,000 Candidates Out of Over 1.5 Million Secure Admission Yearly

The Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, has revealed that only 400,000 out of the over 1.5 million candidates that sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination yearly secure admission each year.

He made this known during the collection of the Certificate of Recognition for the newly established Edo State University by the Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.
He further stated that the establishment of more institutions will help absorb more candidates yearly.
According to him, the Edo State University, is now the 41st state university and the 142nd university in Nigeria.

JAMB To Announce 2016 Official Cut-off Marks For Institutions By June

     The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that the cut-off marks for universities and polytechnics will be made public in June, 2016.
This was made known by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin.
In his words, “JAMB will officially publish the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), cut-off marks for universities and polytechnics and Colleges of education in June.”
